Modular sofas

In Switzerland renting a house is very common and widespread. According to statistics, only a third of households are inhabited by their owners.

This lifestyle has certain advantages, such as mobility. You are not tied to a house and you can move out according to your needs, for example if the family grows or if you change your job.

Flexibility and the possibility of change, might have an impact on furniture and some designers have thought about it, creating authentic aesthetic and functional wonders. Here there are my favorites when we focus on sofas:

TUFTY-TIME BY PATRICIA URQUIOLA (B&B ITALIA).

What generates this beautiful sofa is a pouf, which can be adapted into different shapes, for instance the chaise longue, or an angle or an island. It is a contemporary reinterpretation of the sofa Chesterfield and Capitonne, which adapts to spaces with different styles.

ALPHABET SOFA™  BY PIERO LISSONI (FRITZ HANSEN).

“All the elements of the sofa are like letters and you are free to create your own words.” – Piero Lissoni

Inspired by the Lego pieces, the Italian designer and architect gave an adaptable form to the different pieces that compose the sofa. This way we can produce a lot of combinations that fit any space.

CAMPO by Luciana Martins, Gerson de Oliveira and Vivian Hashimoto for ,OVO.

A funny and interesting combination of hexagon pieces, that make up seats, which are great in private and public spaces (exhibitions, offices, etc.). Sofas that give the impression of being always prepared to grow or decrease according to our needs.design_follie_campo_ovo_luciana-_martins_gerson_de_oliveira_vivian_hashimoto_1design_follie_campo_ovo_luciana-_martins_gerson_de_oliveira_vivian_hashimoto_2design_follie_campo_ovo_luciana-_martins_gerson_de_oliveira_vivian_hashimoto_4
